So what I’m hearing is you do have passions and what you’re passionate about is very cool.
You need to bring these passions into the kitchen. My passion is singing, and I always bring my singing into everything I do.
I have a good understanding of acoustics, and you know me, I’m constantly singing whatever comes into my head. Sometimes I’ll remember a savage line from a song and I’ll sing that. Sometimes I’ll just close my eyes and harmonise with the music around me.
And what happens next is the other team members receive my acoustics and hear my passion, hear my love, and it raises us up together, connecting us through my love of singing.
So what I'm saying is, bring your passions to work. Passions are another tool in your tool box, and passions are what bring the team together. You mentioned you have an amazing playlist of lo-fi music. Why hide what you love? Bring that lo-fi energy into the kitchen. Hum a lo-fi melody. Shake your tongs to a lo-fi beat. Share your love of lo-fi music with us so that we can share the love together.
The thing is, air is all around us, and you need to trust that air enough to breathe in that air in order to trust yourself. You can trust me. I’m a born teacher. A manager is just another word for teacher. For now, start small. If you hear the music, enjoy the music. Tap the tongs and nod your head, and soon, before you know it, you'll be singing! We’ll love it.
I was once like you. I wasn’t sure of myself. I was self destructive. I took drugs and I didn’t always agree with my team members. But these disagreements? That is fuel to your fire. That is your liberation. What you think of as negative experiences? They are really just opportunities to be your best self.
Now I'm gonna let you finish your break in peace. Go to the bathroom, think about some lo-fi music, and if at the end of the day you’re still on the verge of tears, take another five minutes. Just know that I am here for you until you die. Right? You can always call me for more advice. Okay. Are you ready? Go.
