no scrubs

whenever i hear the song no scrubs, i get very defensive. i fold my arms. this better not be a song about me.

i dont want no scrubs, a scrub is a guy cant get no love from me

i am glad to have people in my life who can make me see reason: the song is not about you ben. you are nowhere near a scrub ben. you shouldnt take things so personally ben. you shouldnt take things so figuratively ben. you shouldnt read into things so much ben. when she says "scrubs" she is probably speaking literally. she is probably speaking about scrubs the tv show.

although this logic and reason is unbreakable, i remain unconvinced and still i feel i must jump to my own defense:

yes, okay, tlc's allegation does have some basis in truth. nobodys perfect. but really, the song paints an overly unflattering caricature of the scrub in question, me, in fact it is very unfair. this song is defamation.

according to TLC, a scrub is a "guy always hanging out the passenger side of his best friends ride, trying to holler at me". first of all, i have only done this once, and yes i was hollering, but i was not hollering at her. i was simply hollering for the sake of hollering, we must consider the context. me and my friends were playing doors.

for those who havent been in a car with petar and laurent, doors is a game where you circle round an empty carpark at night and whenever someone shouts 'doors', you all open the doors. you probably think this is stupid, but you really can't understand how thrilling doors is unless you try it. if you have ever seen the perks of being a wallflower (2013), you might have some idea. opening the door of a moving car, you feel infinite.

so, i apologise if my hollering came across as threatening or made anyone feel unsafe. to be honest, i didnt even see the members of TLC at the time, we thought the carpark was empty.

i will not, however, apologise for hollering. do we condemn the millions of thrillseekers who holler on the rollercoaster each day? do we hear their screams and think 'they must be screaming something at me, something threatening or innappropriate'. come on, open your eyes: you're at adventure world, so really, i do wish that the singer of no scrubs could have had the grace to message me about the matter instead of writing a number one song about me and calling me a scrub.
